Birthday present?
My younger sister’s 17th birthday is fast approaching. I’m sure plenty of people can relate with this; it’s so hard for me to figure out what my sister likes. She’s just SO picky about things. It makes finding a present for her pretty difficult.
So I went ahead and asked my sister what she wanted for her birthday. I could tell how much she loves thinking about this question by the look on her face. First, she told me that I should just take her shopping. (Yeah right!) Then she told me that she really loved the Juicy Couture Velour Daydreamer Bag.
This handbag is actually pretty quirky and cute. I can see why she likes it. It’s different and it just stands out well. She said she really liked the size of the velour satchel, (14×11x7) and she liked the color of it and the strange little details that make the handbag fun.
It has a logo printed scarf with appliquéd leather flowers attacked to the bag. The handbag also comes with a removable heart shaped mirror.
I guess I’ll have to get it for her and I think I’ll have to borrow it every now and then. I’ll be expecting something nice in October, lil sis!

Prada’s Lace Leather Bowler

Prada really loves lace for their Fall 2008 line. They love it so much that they’ve covered their handbags in them. The question, of course, is… Do you like that much lace on your handbags?
Now, I personally love lace. It’s so pretty and feminine. I firmly believe that a little bit of lace can go a long way. But can it work when it’s all over a larger handbag?
To be honest, I didn’t think so. But that was until I saw this lovely Prada Lace bowler while browsing through FabSugar. It is just… wow. What a gorgeous handbag. It looks great all dressed up and, as the lovely Eva Mendes shows us here, it looks great with a casual outfit too. I wasn’t too impressed with the Fall 2008 lace handbags that Prada showed off on the runway a while back but this one is a stunner.
Maybe lace can work out for larger handbags after all…

Laptop Bag or Bust
A lot of attention has been give to the laptop these days and it is easy to see why. More and more people are walking around with thier entire life on thier laptops than ever before. Whether it be for work or for play the laptop (or notebook computer) is just so versitile that you may not be able do anything without it. But there has always been one thing that wasn’t so versitile: the laptop bag. Traditionally it was always a boring black bag in which everyone knew was a laptop bag. Then it began to change people wanted more colors, lighter wieght, and a minimalistic design. Luckily I found that the Rioni Signature Carry-On Briefcase can be used as great laptop bag (It fits my 15.4 inch Gateway) or sleeve if you will. Not only fits all these criteria, but doubles as a soft briefcase as well in the event that you may not be a laptop lugger. One of my favorite design cues is the dual zip back that either allows you to use it as a pocket or as a slip on attachment to the posts on your luggage when traveling.

Gucci is doing well…

In this time of economic downfall, many companies have no choice but to file for bankruptcy. However, there are some companies that are actually benefiting or doing exceptionally well during this period of despair. Companies such as Walmart, Costco, and other discount stores have been raking in large sums of money. But guess who else is also doing well in 2008? The company starts with the letter “G” and rhymes with the word “hoochie.”
If you haven’t guessed it by now, I’m talking about the designer handbag company, “Gucci.” Gucci corporate has just released their quarterly end sales report which demonstrated to the public that their sales were much higher than their expectancy. On the same note, Gucci’s gross sales also exceeded the gross sales of their competitor, Louis Vuitton. Gucci’s success this quarter is directly related to the increasing sales in the Eastern markets. Though, Gucci reported that they had a significant decrease in sales in the West, they had an extraordinary jump in sales in the Asian countries.
So, were you one of the contributors to Gucci’s success this quarter?

Clutches = Love

I’m always on the lookout for a cute clutch. I usually carry a clutch in my book bag. It makes life so much easier for me. That way, if I want to go out after class, I can just pull out my clutch and I’m ready to go. I don’t have to worry about transferring bags or forgetting an essential item. It really works out well for me.
Well, for the umpteenth time, I’ve stumbled across the Michael Michael Kors studded leather clutch. Every time I see it, I think it is fantastic and perfect for me. I really have no idea why I haven’t already rushed out to get it.
I love the vanilla color and the gold accents. I think it makes the bag cute and simple enough to go well with most outfits but also useful for nights out. It has a chain link shoulder strap that can easily be tucked away and it looks cute with or without the strap. It is 10.5”x5”x1.75” so it’s the perfect size to fit into my book bag.
Yeah, this bag is officially going to my back to school things to buy list.

eBay gets sued by Louis Vuitton!

Luxury Brand holder, Louis Vuitton, is suing eBay for $65 million. That is a hefty amount, wouldn’t you agree?
The company that represents designer handbag brands, Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, and Givenchy, filed a complaint against eBay for not enforcing strict enough procedures to prevent the practice of counterfeit luxury goods. During 2001 and 2005, Bernard Arnault, the head of LVMH (Corporate Stock Issued Name), claimed that there was a significant loss in sales. LVMH believed that the reason for this loss was caused by the increasing sales of fake designer handbags. LVMH had been cracking down on this case for quite some time—whether it involved arresting counterfeit dealers, closing down warehouses carrying the counterfeit goods, or simply stopping counterfeits coming into the country at the ports, LVMH has investing a large sum of money trying to put a stop to the matter in hopes that their increasing number of sales would return.
Louis Vuitton is suing eBay for two very basic reasons. The first reason being that eBay shouldn’t have allowed for the selling of counterfeit products. And the second reason being that though some of the designer handbags sold on eBay were considered authentic, the bags must be sold through a licensed agency (specialized dealer). So, how does this affect designer handbag brand Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, and Givenchy?
With the combination of eBay’s low prices and millions of auctioneers every day, these designer handbags are priced too cheaply; therefore, hurting the reputation of designer handbag company, Louis Vuitton and its subsidiaries.
