Wilson Leather to convert stores to Accessory Boutiques

According to AOL news, the company once known as Wilson Leather, is closing 105 stores and turning the remaining 100 mall based stores into accessory boutiques. Wilson Leather was known to offer leather outerwear, handbags, accessories, and apparel. But the company “substantially doubts” that they have the ability to stay in business. The company is hoping women will bail it out by turning the remaining 100 mall stores into accessory boutiques called Studio.

Handbags from Blue Tree NYC
Wow… So, there’s a New York based brand that is definitely unique. Blue Tree sells hand carved-Lucite handbags; some are hand painted and some come with embedded battery operated lights. They are works of art with cloth inserts inside so that they can actually be used to carry your things.
They’re different and they’re pretty… some of the designs are already sold out… but would you carry around one of these?

Prada’s Lace Leather Bowler

Prada really loves lace for their Fall 2008 line. They love it so much that they’ve covered their handbags in them. The question, of course, is… Do you like that much lace on your handbags?
Now, I personally love lace. It’s so pretty and feminine. I firmly believe that a little bit of lace can go a long way. But can it work when it’s all over a larger handbag?
To be honest, I didn’t think so. But that was until I saw this lovely Prada Lace bowler while browsing through FabSugar. It is just… wow. What a gorgeous handbag. It looks great all dressed up and, as the lovely Eva Mendes shows us here, it looks great with a casual outfit too. I wasn’t too impressed with the Fall 2008 lace handbags that Prada showed off on the runway a while back but this one is a stunner.
Maybe lace can work out for larger handbags after all…

Gucci is doing well…

In this time of economic downfall, many companies have no choice but to file for bankruptcy. However, there are some companies that are actually benefiting or doing exceptionally well during this period of despair. Companies such as Walmart, Costco, and other discount stores have been raking in large sums of money. But guess who else is also doing well in 2008? The company starts with the letter “G” and rhymes with the word “hoochie.”
If you haven’t guessed it by now, I’m talking about the designer handbag company, “Gucci.” Gucci corporate has just released their quarterly end sales report which demonstrated to the public that their sales were much higher than their expectancy. On the same note, Gucci’s gross sales also exceeded the gross sales of their competitor, Louis Vuitton. Gucci’s success this quarter is directly related to the increasing sales in the Eastern markets. Though, Gucci reported that they had a significant decrease in sales in the West, they had an extraordinary jump in sales in the Asian countries.
So, were you one of the contributors to Gucci’s success this quarter?

eBay gets sued by Louis Vuitton!

Luxury Brand holder, Louis Vuitton, is suing eBay for $65 million. That is a hefty amount, wouldn’t you agree?
The company that represents designer handbag brands, Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, and Givenchy, filed a complaint against eBay for not enforcing strict enough procedures to prevent the practice of counterfeit luxury goods. During 2001 and 2005, Bernard Arnault, the head of LVMH (Corporate Stock Issued Name), claimed that there was a significant loss in sales. LVMH believed that the reason for this loss was caused by the increasing sales of fake designer handbags. LVMH had been cracking down on this case for quite some time—whether it involved arresting counterfeit dealers, closing down warehouses carrying the counterfeit goods, or simply stopping counterfeits coming into the country at the ports, LVMH has investing a large sum of money trying to put a stop to the matter in hopes that their increasing number of sales would return.
Louis Vuitton is suing eBay for two very basic reasons. The first reason being that eBay shouldn’t have allowed for the selling of counterfeit products. And the second reason being that though some of the designer handbags sold on eBay were considered authentic, the bags must be sold through a licensed agency (specialized dealer). So, how does this affect designer handbag brand Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, and Givenchy?
With the combination of eBay’s low prices and millions of auctioneers every day, these designer handbags are priced too cheaply; therefore, hurting the reputation of designer handbag company, Louis Vuitton and its subsidiaries.
