Beach Tote

The extreme heat that we had this past weekend was seriously getting to me. All I could think about was how badly I wanted to spend every moment of it at the beach and that I wanted this tote bag to be my beach bum buddy.
This is the Kate Spade Noel Coal Tote and I love it. It’s made out of a heavyweight cotton canvas that has been printed in an olid based pain, and is accentuated with light gold hardware. The color was really the first thing to catch my eye. It comes in three colors, blue, green, or red, with a gradation of the signature Noel mark.
It’s about 11 inches high and 12.5 inches wide, so I can definitely fit in plenty of things that I’ll need (like sunblock and a water bottle which are essential for an entire day outside). I can’t wait to head to the beach with this one!

Designer Bags for Mommy

My older sister only recently stopped carrying around the baby bag that she used to use for my absolutely adorable nephew. Thank goodness. That baby bag was bulky, big, and not very pretty.
Fortunately for mothers who just happen to love their designer bags, there are a number of stylish and very useful baby bags. Coach, Louis Vuitton, Kate Spade, Coach, and Burberry are just some designers that have created bags spacious enough to fit everything you and baby would need on the go. Some of them even come with changing pads for baby and when baby is all grown up, it doesn’t mean you have to say bye bye to the bag. You can hang on to it and use it as an overnight bag as well.
What do you think, moms?

Pass on plastic, use a greener alternative.
Straw bags are a hit this summer, and I can easily see why. Straw bags are eco-friendly, cheap to make, and not to mention the bag itself doesn’t weigh very much at all. But, think twice before you start rushing out to the nearest store to buy one. With a little time and effort, one can knit their own unique straw bag with just simple supplies from your local arts and craft store. There are many options and patterns are available on the internet, and a quick Google would yield some good information.
If you are not the do it yourself type, Straw Studio makes some very cute straw handbags, the one that particularly peaks my interest is the Polka Dot Cornhusk Satchel. I think they would go perfectly with my big floppy beach hat and my Kate Spade sunglasses.

Did you know? Today is a Special Day!

“May is a busy month for turtles. Many have recently emerged from winter hibernation and are beginning their search for mates and nesting areas. For this reason, May 23 was designated World Turtle Day.” – Human Society of the United States. This year marks the eighth annual World Turtle Day, and how I see it is you have two options. First is to dress up like a turtle for the day. Or second get the Rioni Turtle Backpack which coincidentally is appropriate today. Happy Turtle Day Everyone!

Backpacks: Geek or Chic?
Everyone has one, but unless you are on the go a lot, not many people need one. Nonetheless, designers have figured out ways to make the dual (sometimes single) strap device that you wear on your back fashionable again. In short, people usually just call it a backpack. The once boring piece used primarily to shuttle school books and classroom accessories is now finding their way back to being excellent fashion accessories. Top designers like Louis Vuitton, Prada, Coach and who could forget Rioni have all made cute backpacks. They have a point, freeing up your arms and shoulders so you can do something else is advantageous over handbags and I am sure not everyone likes to look like a hitch hiker when they are on the go. But, handbags still win my vote; the ability to access all my things quickly is indispensible. So what do you think Geek or Chic?

A Lumberjack’s New Arm Candy

Lumberjacks have to carry pieces of wood on thier shoulders everyday. Should we all go the way of the lumberjack and start carrying wood on our shoulders as well? Most people would say, “NO WAY! How is that a fashion statement?” but designer Timmy Woods believes that it can be fashionable. Wooden handbags are actually handbags sculpted out of wood and used a fashion statements. You might have already seen these and not even know it. They look just like normal fashion handbags with the exception to the fact that it is made of wood. These wooden bags usually end up being designed as evening bags since daily usage of a wooden bag is quite inconvenient. Wood naturally is not flexible nor does it travel so it sacrficies many elements of what makes a good handbag. But that doesn’t mean these bags can’t be beautiful. Wooden handbags are sometimes carved out of a single block of wood and they decorated with beads, gems, or jewelry. So what do people think? Will this catch on? Is this more of a novelty item or destined to be the new fashion statement? This Planet by Timmy Woods, is a great example of what a wooden handbag looks like.

Looking for the Perfect Travel Companion?

One of the most common questions I hear everyone ask (especially during the holiday season) is “Which luggage should I take?” Everyone is faced with the question, which piece should I check in at the airport, which piece will they allow me as a carry on, which one is easy to carry?
Many times I just say to people a lot of your traveling necessities are based on everyone’s own preference. Some like the larger luggages so that they can take most of their house with them, and others like my friends like to travel light…one check in luggage, or just a simple carry on piece for the weekend away.
Having seen many different inventions in the travel luggage department, I would say one of my favorite that gets a five out of five for convenience, easy to use, and durability would be the small RIONI Duffel Roller in the Signature Collection. It’s small enough to take on as a carry on, yet big enough to hold my clothes for at least a weekend. This way, when I take a weekend trip to Santa Barbara, whether it be by train, airplane, or car, I know I won’t have to worry about lugging around a big travel piece. The best thing of all is that it’s a duffel roller. Come on ladies…we all know we like to carry pairs and pairs of shoes with us (and I’m no exception…I love my shoes!) and they can get heavy. Being able to roll everything where we need to go just makes life a little easier.
The great thing about this RIONI duffel roller is that in comes in a larger size (unfortunately that one can’t be taken on some airlines as a carry-on) both in the Signature Collection and in the Aristo Brown Collection. The small duffel in the Signature Collection retails for $300.
Let me know what you think about this duffel roller or any travel piece that you think is perfect for the holidays.
