Celebrate July 4th with more than just fireworks.

Flag Handbag

This Independence Day, show your holiday spirit with a new Flag Bag. And unlike a lot of the bags I recommend you won’t break the bank doing it either. A handbag like this you can get at your local grocery store, your local pharmacy, or even your local convience store. And right around now they should be on sale at $1-$5 depending where you go. But this bag isn’t just a fashion statement. When you buy one of these to reuse instead of a using plastic bag, you are doing your part to reduce the waste that ends up in landfills. These bags are usually made with natural products like a cotton based fabric and are very durable. So when you get it stained or dirty from heavy use, you can throw it into the washing machine! How many of your other handbags can do that? Economy, Versatilty, and Fashionabilty (ok, I made that one up), but what else can you ask for?

A Neat Ruffle Hobo by Designer Christain Dior

Dhristian Dior Designer Purse

When I saw this handbag as I was browsing through eLuxury, this purse caught my eye for some odd reason. I was actually in the midst of pushing the Next > button on my browser, but then this mustard looking ruffled bag caught my attention. So I decided to investigate further…

First off, it saddens me that the price tag on this precious baby is $1,750.00. It looks so different and unique which I guess seems to strongly affect its pricing to consumers like us.  But anyways, let’s not waste too much time talking nonsense and rather continue on talking about this lovely bag.

Dior calls this designer handbag, “Gipsy Ruffled Medium Hobo;” which I feel is a name that is with perfect unison with this masterpiece. It’s said to be made out of gently washed calf skin which is just a nicer way of saying leather that came from a showered cow. Nevertheless, I bet it feels very elegant to the touch. On the other hand, how could one forget Dior’s signature dangling letter hardware on the handle? That little dangling thing makes women go fanatic for Dior designer purses; like myself. To be honest, this handbag is just as plain as any ordinary hobo with an exception to its stylish ruffles. Overall, I do recommend this bag to the hobo loving gals. If I see somebody with this bag, I will definitely stop them and give my compliments.

Happy 4th of July, readers…

Louis Vuitton Monogram Shearling Bags

Louis Vuitton Shearling Thunder Bag

I do not like. I do not like. I do not like.

Maybe it’s just me but I do not find these handbags attractive at all. Normally, I think Louis Vuitton is great but it seems like someone out there wants to prove me wrong. The wrinkled patent leather makes it look like someone took a Louis Vuitton handbag and covered it with clear plastic wrap. And the fur trim all over the bag definitely doesn’t help. It reminds me of Ugg boots and that just doesn’t belong on any designer handbag. I’m not even too crazy about the black straps and detail.

It all just looks so wrong and so awkward!

Is it just me who thinks this bag needs to become a long forgotten mistake in Louis Vuitton’s history books? If so, then please tell me what’s good about these handbags.

Beach Tote

 Kate Spade Noel Coal Tote

The extreme heat that we had this past weekend was seriously getting to me. All I could think about was how badly I wanted to spend every moment of it at the beach and that I wanted this tote bag to be my beach bum buddy.

This is the Kate Spade Noel Coal Tote and I love it. It’s made out of a heavyweight cotton canvas that has been printed in an olid based pain, and is accentuated with light gold hardware. The color was really the first thing to catch my eye. It comes in three colors, blue, green, or red, with a gradation of the signature Noel mark.

It’s about 11 inches high and 12.5 inches wide, so I can definitely fit in plenty of things that I’ll need (like sunblock and a water bottle which are essential for an entire day outside). I can’t wait to head to the beach with this one!

New Designer Purse from Rioni’s Virtue Collection

New from the RIONI Virtue… 3 awesome choices, $204 each – 10% (Sale) = $183.60.

RIONI Virtue – Designer Casual Carrier

I would carry this bag on a daily basis. This purse is smart looking, light-weight, and unique. Also, believe it or not, the bag is actually quite practical too. The two magnetic closure compartments open in the front and in the rear of the handbag making it very easy to access my keys or cell phone.

RIONI Virtue – Designer Blossom Tote

I’ve got to admit, I fell in love with this bag when I first saw it at the Rioni store in Los Angeles. Might I add… this bag has 5 compartments! Wow!

Sometimes beauty is indescribable and this bag has left me speechless.

FENDI’S SPY BAG

Fendi - Spy Bag

I never really liked the look of this bag, but it has been quite a popular purse for the entire 2007 and still continues leaving its trail in 2008. What makes this bag so special? Perhaps it’s the $2,250 price tag which makes this bag irresistible. We all know how women are, always wanting things that aren’t within hands reach. However, it is more likely that its popularity resonates from the five letters, F-E-N-D-I, that are imprinted on the metal closure of the bag. Anyways, for those who want to know a little bit more details concerning this odd looking purse, continue reading…

The Fendi Spy Bag features a double woven handle, a hidden coin purse with a snap closure, a fold-over closure flap with wristlet accent, and canvas lining. The bag is completely composed of Italian leather; a definite must for a bag that costs over 2K. The dimensions are as follows: L 17” x W 9” x H 11”.

That’s all folks…

Organized Handbags

The Butler Bag

Question: Who has a hard time finding exactly what they need inside their bags?

I asked my sister to get something for me from my bag and she just looked at me like I was crazy and told me she’d never be able to find anything in there. Sadly, she is so right. Even I have a hard time finding exactly what I need in my own bag.

I know I’m not the only one with an incredibly disorganized bag. My mother’s purse looks like it’s been raided and ransacked on multiple occasions. My friends’ bags aren’t much better. Honestly, it’s not that hard to organize my bag, but I do find it incredibly difficult to keep it organized for more than a couple of days.

It’s for this very reason that people have created a handbag specifically meant to help women stay organized.  Designer Jen Groover has created the Butler Bag, a designer handbag with inner compartments for all your essential items. There are generally 6 or 7 compartments for you to put your makeup, phone, mp3 player, gum, water bottle, or whatever it is you see fit. There’s even a slot designated to keep a magazine or two.

There are two types of Butler Bags in the boutique line: the classic and the hybrid. Then there’s the Bouture Line, which is on the expensive side. These handbags look pretty good though.

I may need to invest in one of these bags…

New from GUCCI “Fall 2008″

Gucci Fall 2008

These are the new Gucci handbags setting the scene for Fall 2008. I’ve got to admit… not too shabby. Nowadays girls are going nuts for the patent leather look and from the looks of Gucci’s new collection, they definitely managed to blend the classical with a patent look. Using their signature print with a gloss is almost like blending the old with the new–the formula for today’s fashion.

Has anybody noticed that lately, Gucci has been using a new emblem (the amored man) on many of their signature bags? It seems like they discontinued the “G” emblem. Good for them… because I’m digging it!

“Oh Gracious One” – RIONI Savant

Rioni Savant - Everyday Weekender

Before RIONI launched their new Savant collection, I already heard rumors of a new Rioni monogrammed collection designed especially for the summer. Might I just say I was extremely content with the brand new release (1st week of May 08) of this classy collection.

Though I love them all, I am going to choose and talk about only one of the styles from the RIONI Savant group. Since I hate making decisions, I had to open up www.rioni.com/savant_handbags1.htm, close my eyes and blindly point to my computer screen the style I was going to write about today. And upon reopening my eager eyes, my pointing finger landed on the “RIONI Everyday Weekender.” For some odd reason, even with my eyes closed, I still managed to choose the most expensive one. Anyways, let’s begin the handbag critique; shall we?

I honestly believe this is a perfect summer handbag. When I first laid eyes on this bag, I immediately fell in love with its simple elegance and beauty. So much that, if I were a thief and I saw a lady holding this bag, I would rob the lady of her bag.

“The Everyday Weekender” has it all; from looks, to space, to compartments (rear, front, and interior pockets), and to top it off, suede lining! This bag definitely screams “status.” The size is just perfect; not too bulky and not too tiny. Also, another plus thing about this tote is that it portrays both a casual and sophisticated look. I also feel that the silver patent leather is a perfect blend with the white Rioni monogrammed body. Usually I complain about everything, but this time I’m without complaints. Rioni has really done a great job with this collection.

Handbag Weighing You Down?

Heavy Purse

Purses and handbags have become essential in our society of overpopulated women. A typical modern purse today holds AT LEAST a wallet (or two), keys and cell phone.  Then for the kicks of it, we throw in a small cosmetic bag, some pepper spray, a digital camera, a planner, a few pens, a coin purse, and last but not least our favorite scented lotion.

Luckily, all women were created differently—some choose to carry fewer items in their bags while others choose to lug an elephant in their purses. Unfortunately, many of the items in our handbags should be categorized as extras rather than necessities. It is true that a woman can possibly get rid of her curling iron and save approximately 3 pounds of unnecessary weight. However, I guess one’s curls may get untangled. The thing that women tend to forget is that big purses already consist of a hefty weight.

It’s been said that women should not carry any more than 10% of her body weight on her shoulder. For those of us who carry laptops, it is very easy to go over that ten percent. Our modern technology is improving by the day, for ladies are able to save some weight by using their Motorola RAZR and pocket Sony Cybershot digital camera. Handbags these days have become larger and more decorative (consisting of heavy chains and hardware). However, carrying too much weight on one’s shoulder or on one’s back may have its consequences.

Carrying heavy bags may lead to neck spasms, shoulder damage, lower back pain, and at times can lead to scoliosis. Though one may not be able to notice these symptoms instantaneously, one’s mood may be affected by this type of discomfort and pain.  So women out there, I hope that this little write-up will remind us ladies to clean out purses or bags every once in a while.

*Future shopping tip: Next time when shopping for a purse, try choosing a bag with wider straps and make sure the bag does not hang too low (exceeding below one’s belly button).
