Celebrities and the Louis Vuitton Capucines
One of the best barometers of how a handbag is going to perform for a brand is the celebrity market. Brands are always clambering over each other in order to outfit the hottest celebrities with their latest model of handbag for high profile events, and for good reason; the exposure that a bag will get on the red carpet will often set off a social media storm that is worth its weight in marketing gold.
However, there are times when the presence of a bag on a celebrity's arm speaks louder than any red carpet event ever could. One such event is Paris fashion week. One of the most anticipated events in the fashion industry, models, actors, and street style start alike all descend upon the Jardin Des Tuilleries in Paris equipped with their most chic handbags. This year, there was one bag in particular that was seen on the arm of many a celebrity; the Louis Vuitton Capucines. The Capucines bag is not the newest in the Louis Vuitton fleet, but this bag that got its name from the Rue de Capucines in Paris (where Vuitton opened its first store) is certainly one of the most popular. Whether it is due to the sleek, feminine, and minimalistic design of the bag or the very public boost it got when it was spotted on the arm of Angelina Jolie after its initial launch one year ago, the entire Capucines line has been one of the most consistently sold-out products on the Louis Vuitton website, both in the USA and abroad.
In addition to a highly-stylized initial campaign starring brand ambassador Michelle Williams, this year at Paris Fashion Week, the bag was spotted on many an arm, including Miranda Kerr and Princess Charlene of Monaco.
