Style Tips: The Cross-Body Mini Bag
If the Fall 2014 collection showed us anything, it’s that handbag trends will invariably always come around again. The coming new season seems to be officially ushering-in the unofficial return of the mini-bag. Miniature sized handbags were seen on the runways at Moschino, Louis Vuitton, and Jimmy Choo, just to name a few. However effortless and (arguably) convenient these smaller-sized bags can be, they sometimes pose an interesting styling challenge that larger handbags with more of a presence do not. Here are a few simple styling tips to take with you as you venture once more into a familiar trend, the new season’s cross-body mini-bags.1. Layer a cross-body mini bag
Even for the thinnest, reediest of fashionistas, mini bags can seem out of proportion when worn cross-body against a simple silhouette. The solution however, is quite simple; Layering. By layering a short top or jacket over a longer flowing one, a cross-body mini bag turns into an accessory; adding depth to an already layered look instead of being the focal point of a more minimalistic one.
2. Make sure it sits right at the hip
The most flattering length for a cross-body mini bag is for the bag to hit right at the hip. Any shorter than that and you risk visually slicing yourself in half, and drawing unnecessary attention to your chest area. Longer than that, and you will likely find that it bounces annoyingly along as you walk. Having the bag at your hip also means you can easily peer into it without obscuring your view with the flap (too high), and you won’t struggle to reach it (too low).
