Chanel's Going for the Tweed Look
Chanel has always been famous and well-known for their quilted-looking leather body and interlaced leather chain handle handbags. Boy, was that a mouthful! Chanel handbags are recognized by many as elegant high-end fashion evening bags--great to take to a classy restaurant and go dancing afterwards. Well, is Chanel dipping their toes into new waters? It seems like the answer to that question is “yes”!
Chanel launched a new look for this year. The new handbag look is composed of fabric tweed matched with Chanel’s signature interlaced leather chain. The interlaced leather chain is an iconic symbol of Chanel. They’ve also managed to use patent calfskin leather for both the handle and the interlacing strap–a touch of modern elegance. What do I think of this new look? I think it looks old. The tweed-look makes the bag look like a used bag. If I’m going to be spending thousands of dollars on a purse, it better be fresh out the wrapper or at least look like it came from there.
