Simplicity is Big for Fall 2014
There are always many notable handbag trends with every fashion cycle, and the Fall 2014 shows were certainly no exception. Although a clean, minimalistic design aesthetic is certainly not a new trend (remember the Céline era ushered-in by Phoebe Philo in 2008), the clean, modern aesthetic has once again reared its head on the Fall 2014 runways. Here are a few of our favorites.
Balenciaga
Simple leather bags designed to look (and act) like shopping bags reigned supreme on the runway at Balenciaga for fall 2014. The practical and elegant totes were shown in a variety of sizes, colors, and finishes, including permutations of crocodile, matte, and patent leather. The spacious capacity of these totes is something that speaks to all women, no matter how they spend their days, and the clean lines are sure to make the bags instant classics that will maintain their allure for the foreseeable future.
Prada
Even before it was shown on the runways, the Prada Safiano tote bag was dubbed “The discreet New It Bag” by Vogue magazine, declaring it the bag that fashion editors worldwide would be scrambling to have on their arm at the Fall collections. The Saffiano tote comes in a myriad of colors and is one of the most serviceable bags out there. With both a top handle and detachable shoulder strap that enables you to wear the bag cross-body, it is easy to see why the bag is so popular with the well-travelled fashion set; it provides the perfect combination of minimalism, practicality, and elegance.
