Designer Accessory Trends: Tutti Frutti for Spring
As is always the case with spring, colour has once again burst onto the fashion scene, and a spell has been cast on the accessories market. The runways and street style blogs are awash in vibrant, tropical hues that are sure to delight even the most steadfast devotee of a neutral palette. This is perhaps no more apparent than it was in designers’ spring 2014 handbag collections; everything from very literal representations of fruit to elegant and simple bags in punchy fruit-inspired hues can be found at the moment, and if we’re honest, we are loving this joyful trend! Here are two of our tutti-frutti favourites.
The Pineapple
The pineapple has always been somewhat of an icon of warmer climes, and this season, its presence is surely being felt. This season, Charlotte Olympia has quite literally given us a pineapple on a string with her Ana Pineapple Acrylic Shoulder Bag, and the likes of Burberry and Valentino have come out with pineapple yellow versions of both their respective Croc-Effect Leather Bowling Bag, and Rockstud Leather Trapeze Bags.
Citrus
There is something so unmistakably recognizable about citrus worn as art; the colors, those triangular wedges — it all seems to positively radiate the collective elevation of mood that is brought to us with the arrival of spring. Edie Parker has created an Orange Slice Acrylic clutch bag, as has Judith Leiber, and Kate Spade has given us an entire lemon out of wicker. Apparently when life gives you lemons, you should make them into a handbag! Who knew?
