Runaway Price Tags & Runway Bags: Two of Fashion’s Most Expensive Handbag Brands
If there is one thing that you will never hear a handbag collector say, it’s “I don’t really need another bag”. With the outlook for the luxury goods industry steadily improving and consumers shelling-out more and more of their hard-earned cash for an investment bag, people are more ready than ever to spend some serious money on specialty brands who design seriously luxurious, made to order bags. Want to know exactly where to look in order to get your hands on this type of runway art? Here are two of the most expensive luxury handbag designers on the market, and a few examples of their big ticket wares.
Lana Marks
Lana Marks is known for her use of exotic skins in her handbag designs; everything from the well-known alligator and ostrich skins to the lesser-known lizard skin are fair game, and the company offers over 150 styles and 100 colour variants. Marks’ crowning glory of her handbag designs was the $100,000 Cleopatra Clutch that was made for Charlize Theron to use on the red carpet. The clutch was embellished with 1500 faceted black and white diamonds, and was put-together by a group of no less than five artisans.
Hilde Palladio
Norwegian designer Palladino first came into the limelight in 2001 when she designed the Gadino bag. The white crocodile skin bag was an elegantly simple design with clasps crafted out of pure gold, and set with 39 diamonds! Palladino’s bags are available in very high-end stores like Harvey Nichols, and are regularly at the top of the price curve in the luxury handbag industry.
